Youth Ocean Conservation Summit Expeditions provide an exciting opportunity for Summit alumni to reconnect in the field to explore marine environments, while working together to protect our blue planet. Through this program, Summit alumni will build connections with fellow young conservationists while working alongside marine scientists, researchers, educators, and conservationists to actively protect critical marine environments. Stay tuned for future expedition opportunities and plan to join us for the inaugural Expedition at Biscayne National Park March 17-19, 2017!
Due to limited space, participants will be selected through a brief application based on a 150 word paragraph on why they want to be part of the field camp. Those selected will be responsible for getting themselves to and from Biscayne National Park's Visitor Center near Homestead Florida, for providing their own personal gear (to include bedding), and a modest fee of $50 to cover the costs of provided food. The Field Camp will provide boat transport to the island, tents, food/drink and logistical support.
To participate, click here to complete the online application indicating your commitment to participating in the program and sharing why you would like to be selected to participate by February 24, 2017. Participants will be notified of their selection by February 28 and will receive instructions for completing their registration payment by March 3, 2017. |
YOCS Expedition – Biscayne National Park – March 17-19 2017
You’re invited to be part of the inaugural Youth Ocean Conservation Summit Expedition at Biscayne National Park in south Florida! From March 17-19, 2017, twenty Youth Ocean Conservation Summit alumni ages 14 and up will camp out on Elliott Key, the largest island in Biscayne National Park. There will be opportunities to explore the island's subtropical hardwood hammock, nearshore seagrass beds and rocky shorelines while learning about the park's challenges from rangers and scientists. You'll also have the opportunity to network with other young people (like you!) who are making, or seek to make, a difference for the world's marine ecosystems in a fun, casual and beautiful setting. |
Questions? Please contact us! We look forward to seeing you there and thank Biscayne National Park for their support of this program!
